It’s show time!!  Well technically it’s still dress rehearsal time – but in just a few short days it will be show time!!!  On Sunday, Dance Magic moved into the Memorial Center for 2 fun filled weeks of dance show craziness!!  I love this time of year!  Everyone is excited, everyone is busy – there is a constant parade of costumes throughout the Memorial Center and an endless supply of adorable dancers on stage to distract and entertain you.  I spent a few hours there on Sunday and Monday evening, I took bunches of pictures and I thought I’d share just a few of the highlights with you!  Here’s a little sneak peak to get you excited and looking forward to show time…

These girls are certainly having fun!

I hope everyone is enjoying dress rehearsal week!  I think I actually like this week even more than show week.  It’s such a great opportunity to see the dancers on stage in their costumes and we usually get to see them perform their dance more than once!  It’s a perfect time to take pictures, as sometimes during the show that can be a challenge.   Plus, you can bring your whole family to watch and you don’t even need to buy a ticket!  I love dress rehearsal week! J  Don’t forget to have a look at the boards set up in the downstairs foyer at the Memorial Center!  Those are always a blast, it’s a great chance to see how much the girls have grown over the years and to look back on all the dances they’ve done.  It’s a fun trip down memory lane!

This is also the one time of the year I get to catch up with all of my favorite dance mom friends!  As our girls get older we find that they don’t need us at the studio as much, which also means that we as dance moms don’t see each other as often as we used to!  After so many years of dance I have some wonderful mommy friends and I look forward to show time each year!  It’s a fabulous opportunity for all of us to sit down together and catch up while we enjoy our girls dancing.  I had a lovely day on Sunday watching dancers on stage, taking pictures of all the excitement, and chatting with all of my dance mom friends.   And then next week I get to be Star Mom, which I look forward to every year!  It’s a great chance to see the show from the dancer’s perspective.  I get to be a part of all the backstage excitement, to help the girls with some quick hair and costume changes and to enjoy a little more catching up time with some of my friends as well as some of the dancers I’ve grown to know over the years.  It really is the best time of the year!

Well I hope you all have a wonderful week of rehearsals, and that you’re all excited and ready for the show to start on Friday!!  Here’s the schedule of show times for each Take:

Take 1 – Friday May 2nd 6:00pm and Saturday May 3rd 12:00pm

Take 2 – Saturday May 3rd 6:00pm and Sunday May 4th 1:00pm

Take 3 – Tuesday May 6th and Wednesday May 7th 6:00pm

Take 4 – Thursday May 8th and Friday May 9th 6:00pm

Please arrive at the show an hour before start time!!

Don’t forget to sign your dancer in when you arrive and out when you leave, and if you’re a Star Mom – please ensure all dancers are signed in and out so we know where everyone is!  Also, please arrive early and stay until the last of your dancers leave so you can be sure everyone is accounted for.

Dancers: don’t forget your costumes, accessories, shoes and some extra tights!  Be sure to have everything you need for your hair and makeup and remember, no nail polish, no gum, and no jewelry please!!

But the most important thing of all to remember on show night – the absolute one thing you can not forget at all – the thing that is a complete necessity and you can not perform without is…. your Smile!! Don’t forget to have fun, to enjoy every moment on that stage and to dance with all your heart, and smile so we can see how much you love it. J  If you’re having fun on stage, we’re having fun in the audience!!

Have a fantastic show everyone – enjoy every minute of it.  I can’t wait to see all the dancers on stage and to hear all their families cheering from the audience.  Our Dance Magic family is a very special place filled with very special people, and we are extremely lucky to have Dance Magic as a part of our community.   This is the time of year we celebrate all the hard work and dedication of all our dancers and their teachers.  Here’s to all of you – congratulations on a fantastic year and we will be cheering you on as we watch!!
